It's a GIRL!! Now what?

We're having a girl!! We're very excited and already went shopping for her! I had Vince pick out her first outfit so he could get excited about the whole girl thing. (He still liked the boy clothes better.) He picked a really good one. It's white with 3 light blue bows across the waist (empire waist) and light blue flowers stitched along the bottom. I'll have to post a picture later but we left it in our car in Utah for storage. It's an 18 month size dress so she won't be wearing it for awhile. My parents also contributed a trip to Kid to Kid where a bought a BUNCH of cute stuff! I know I'll get a ton of clothes for baby showers and stuff but I just couldn't help myself! Clothes are the most exciting part of having a girl so I had to live it up!

I can't tell in this picture if she actually has a dog face or if the angle is just weird and it looks like her nose and mouth stick out a lot. I'm sure she'll be cute when she comes out though (well, a couple hours later maybe).

I love her chubby little legs! They said she's a little light but still within the normal range. I don't mind if she stays skinny until she comes out, then we'll make her nice and chubby! With my genes she won't be able to avoid it :)

I love this picture of her cute little feet! I've been feeling them move around in there more and more! Last Saturday while we were at the cabin even Vince got to feel them! I was lying down and felt her move from the outside (first time ever)! So I called Vince over in the off chance that he would feel her too. I wasn't expecting much though. He came over and pressed his head to my belly right under my belly button and it only took a few seconds until I felt her squirm and saw Vince's head move! He looked up and said, "did you do that?" I said no. He pressed his head down again and the same thing happened twice more! I asked him if he was moving his ear or something and he said no. That was her! She kicked harder than she ever has and it was just for her daddy! She's a daddy's-girl already. I know she's going to adore him and vice versa!

She really looks like Donkey Kong in this picture but it's supposed to be of her arms which you can see above her head. I really can't tell what the rest of it is anymore. It made more sense during the ultrasound.

So we were both thinking that she was going to be a boy and it's taken some adjustment for me to accept that she's a girl. It's bad. I'm a little jealous of everyone on facebook announcing boys or even just those people who guessed right. I know it's a not a big deal but I just really wanted to be right. And it seemed like having a boy would be perfect. Vince's side has 8 girls and 2 boys so it would have evened out that side of the family a little bit. My sister is pregnant with a boy and my other sister has an almost 9 month old boy and I thought it would be great to have those 3 little boys running around. We even had a great name for a boy that I was totally in love with and was ready to start calling him out loud. But it's a girl. All my plans are thrown off. I don't love any girl names. I was even planning a pretty neutral nursery but now I'm realizing it's too boyish so I need to girl it up a little. The first night we knew, I had a little break down and started crying and realized I'm terrified of girls; not babies, but anything older than that, yeah! Teenagers are especially bad. Girls always hate their moms. I think it's more rare to have a good relationship with your mom than not. I don't want her to hate me. So now I need to poll all my friends who like their moms and figure out how they did it! I'm sure it will turn out fine and Vince told me all about why I'd be a good mom (he's such a good husband). That's the other thing; I'm already planning on her liking Vince more than me. It's just what happens. Maybe my hormones are getting away from me. Or maybe it's the disappointment of being wrong. But I'm having a little bit of a hard time.

But then I tell myself that baby girls are so cute! I can't wait to teach her how to draw and read and write and gospel stuff and everything I've learned as a girl. I know there will be so many good times ahead and can't get weighed down with everything I'm worried about. I want to be happy and excited about having my only first baby ever so why ruin it for myself?? So yes! I'm very excited to be having a girl! She was a miracle and I know she will continue to be a huge blessing to me and our family. (Any mom advice is still welcome! Thanks anybody who has anything to say!)

Pregnant and Ecstatic!

I will be 15 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Things are going great! My pants are less comfortable. Everything is right on track! I haven't suffered from nausea or morning sickness which has been a huge blessing! Literally. When I was first pregnant I was sick and had a slight fever and it made me nervous so I had Vince give me a blessing. It was a beautiful blessing and in it I was promised that my pregnancy would be relatively painless in recompense for the pains I went through waiting to be able to get pregnant.

I have really learned a lot during this year and half that we've been trying to get pregnant. For one, God has to try us and WANTS to try us to make us stronger. But while we are being tried he doesn't turn his head and let us deal with it. He is with us the whole time if we will let him be. He knows our pain and our suffering and when the trial is done he is so happy to bless us! Our family has been blessed so much! Vince has an intership and possible job offer with a great firm that will be perfect for us. I was able to get pregnant despite the doctors saying that we would have to use invitro fertilization or at least chlomid, but we did it all by ourselves (and Heavenly Father, of course, the best fertility treatment around!) This summer I was even able to get a job at Vince's office which will be perfect for us! We found a great family to rent our apartment for the summer. Vince's parents are willing to take Nyx while we're out here. I haven't been sick at all during pregnancy!! Everything has just lined up perfectly! We have just been blessed so so so much I can't be grateful enough! I almost feel in debt now for how much we've received. Let me also just say that the scriptures have been a huge help. I remember a saying I heard while in Young Women that said we would all be tried like Abraham if we wanted to receive all the blessings Abraham received. During that trying time waiting to get pregnant, I realized I wasn't being tried like Abraham, but I WAS being tried the exact same way Abraham's wife Sarah was tried. (I just hoped it wouldn't take as long to get pregnant as it took Sarah!) Well it worked! After knowing I had PCOS (ovarian cysts) and wasn't ovulating and Vince's stats were such that he probably wouldn't be able to get me pregnant anyway, all our hopes were shot. The only thing we could have hope for was the power of God and that's exactly what it took.

Anyway, the first doctor's appointment was so exciting! But I was really nervous too! Sometimes I was scared that I wanted to be pregnant so bad my body was producing some symptoms of pregnancy without anything being there (dang CSI for putting ideas like that in my head)! It was such a relief to see our little baby actually inside of me thanks to the ultrasound! What did people do without technology?! I try not to be emotional in doctors' offices (I've done it too many times) so I tried really hard not to cry, but I did a little bit anyway. It was just so amazing! We got to see my baby move and squirm and we saw all the bones and little organs. It looked great!

By the way, I'm trying really hard not to say "he" and "his." We both thought we'd have a girl first especially with Vince's family's record (we have 8 nieces and just 2 nephews) but once I got pregnant we both felt like it's a boy. I asked Vince once, "What if we're just completely wrong and it's a girl?" Vince's response was, "if the church is true we're having a boy!" I don't think having a girl would shake his testimony but he just has a really strong feeling that it's a boy and I'm ok with that :) I really wouldn't mind having a girl though, they have cuter clothes and accessories! Which makes boys a lot cheaper! Haha.

Well, tomorrow my baby will be 13 weeks old (15 weeks pregnant, but that includes a week of period and a week until you ovulate) and will be about 4 inches long and 2.5 ounces. That's about the size of an apple! Think of me when you eat any apples this week!

An Awesome Labor-Dabor-Day Event!

Yeah, I know Labor Day was more than a week ago, but then again, I haven't posted on here in the last year...so count your blessings. We had some friends, Todd, Whitney, and unborn baby, over for dinner the Sunday before Labor Day, and in casual conversation they talked about a book sale at the Park City Library where a friend go 400 books for $80. It sounded like a good deal to me, so we went to the sale with Todd and Whitney. $5 got you all you could carry in a free tote bag. Granted, they had a lot of stuff that was fairly worthless (romance novels, 32 hardbacks of the Da Vinci Code, and a Regis and Cathy Lee Cookbooks) and most of what was left of the history section was Nazi related (apparently Nazis buy books only to burn them, but aren't willing to burn their own literature), but overall it was an incredible deal. They had a good amount of contemporary classics and eclectic gems (Like an old Hymnbook, How to Fix Almost Everything (I add in, as long as it was made before 1970)). It would be difficult to list everything we got, but it was over 50 books for $10. Not a bad deal in my book, or for my books. I know where I will be next Labor Day, if I have some space to keep what I got this Labor Day.

After almost a year of absence....

We're back! I'm still at the law office and Vince is still going to law school which means he's not doing anything right now. Actually he's sick. And if human waste were confetti it would be like a constant party upstairs and down! As it is he's just pretty miserable. Earlier this summer he had an internship in Santa Ana, California which went really well. The attorneys he worked with really liked him and wanted him to stay for the rest of the summer. While we would have liked the extra money for the summer Vince decided I was more important and sacrificed that opportunity come back home and be with me. They completely understood his decision and still want him to come back next summer and if he keeps being as awesome as he is he might have a job offer after graduation. I just keep being the bread-winner/bacon-bring-homer/daily-grinder for the law office. One day we'll make a baby and I'll get out of that duty but not yet. Next time something huge happens in our lives or if we remember, we'll update again. Until next time.

Law School!

Vince started law school at BYU and he's thriving! He's been really good about staying on campus long enough to get all his reading and homework done. He has only had to stay late a couple of days (by late I mean around 6 o'clock). He loves telling me all about lawyery things and old cases and laws and stuff that go way over my head. Anyway, he seems like he's really liking it and is getting excited about the profession. We already went to a fancy dinner and it was a lot of fun to get a glimpse into what could become more common in our future. Our future is looking delicious! I'm just working at the same job at the law office and nothing is really new. Our dog, Nyx, is doing well too. Vince's brother Mac was living with us for a few weeks while he was looking for somewhere to live for MBA school. He just moved out this weekend and I think Nyx misses the extra playmate. They were buddies and she would go to his bedroom door every morning to wake him up. Sorry Nyx, cool Uncle Mac has his own life. So now you know what we're doing. Sorry we still don't have pictures.

Update with Pictures!

I'm at work, with very little to do except read and get ready for school. So, I decided to blog. This one goes out for all you who follow us compulsively on our blog, but never actually get into real contact with us. And yes, I know I just described us and our disposition to you as well.

Rachel has an interview today with Tahitian Noni, so for everybody that reads this before noon today, pray for her. We really hope she gets this job as it will get her out of her current situation and give her a pay raise. Also, I am quitting my job pretty soon, so that of course makes me happy, although I'm trading paid work in for paying to do school work.

I'm really excited to start law school here in a few weeks. The only problem is I'm getting the littlest taste of what it will be like and its scaring me. The summer work issued by certain professors and the school in general is more than I had to do for a number of my undergrad courses. Its not too tough and it is useful work, but it just scares me that I have to write papers and start studying before I step onto campus (kinda makes me feel like I'm in a summer term at Hogwarts (Rachel and I have started reading Harry Potter again)). I'm mostly freaking out because I haven't really been in school for the past year and a half so I feel dumb. I already bought my books. The dent in finances wasn't too bad, and I got most of my books either new or close to it. I finally heard back on financial aid, and we qualified for enough to pay tuition and live so that made Rachel and me very happy...until we have to pay it back of course.

So I got my new laptop and it was supposed to have a card reader for our digital camera. Ends up Lenovo lies. So now we can't get our pictures off our camera until we buy a new cable for it. The whole point of this story is to tell you these pictures were taken with the camera on my lappy, and that's why they're so crappy. But as you can see, our dog is much bigger than before, doesn't have blue eyes, and still has huge ears. Oh, and she still looks like a butterscotch snak-pak.

Funny story. Okay, maybe not funny but a little amusing/wierd/this is the only thing worth writing about it my life right now. Today. 6:45 AM. I hear a very non-rythmic thumping as I lay in bed hanging onto my last semblances of sleep. I figure Rachel is up and just making a bit of noise as she gets ready. I roll out of bed and find the crazy neighbor kid pounding on the window by our door and barking. When I realized what it was I asked Rachel to give me a bazooka for Christmas. Oh, and yesterday she tried climbing through our open window to get a look at our puppy. I told her to go home and fought with her to get the window closed. I was pretty surprised though, when I yelled at her she just smiled at me. Apparently she doesn't spook too easy.

Updates, No pictures. So no one will read this.

Ok, so it's been awhile. I'd like to say I've been busy which I suppose I have, but being graduated and all I would think that I'd have tons of time on my hands! I do. But I still don't do much. Just a quick update:

A. I'm working at a law office that does collections. I process papers that get sent in from hospitals and stuff and I have to say if they're suable or not. So, yeah, I sue people and it makes me sad. I might take my bro-in-laws job when he goes to MBA school in the fall. I still have to interview and stuff but it would be nice to get out of the suing business. I'll leave that to Vince, which brings us to #2!
2. Vince starts law school at BYU in the fall. He's excited. He already got his schedule, new laptop, and that back to school glow. Everything he needs to be a good law student! It's going to be intense (like camping) but he's going to blow that law school out of the water!
d. Our dog is a beast. The pictures we have of her on here are a long gone memory. That was when she was about 8 pounds....now she's 40. Fatty. She really is big and getting bigger all the time. But she's also turning into a better dog! She's biting less and wanting scratches more. With the nice summer weather she has also turned into the neighborhood porch dog. She's out there all the time tied up to our hose thing. The neighbor kids come and torture her when they see it, I'm sure she loves it.
*. Just a bonus update: those neighborhood kids are annoying!! We have a couple of foreign (maybe Turkish?) kids that are long time visitors for our neighbors and they're probably like 6 and 7 years old or so? Anyway, they found out we have a dog and that she likes to sit inside our door and look out the window next to it so they've started coming over and squatting on our porch pounding the window and doors and trying to make our dog bark. They are also successful in making me want to teach our dog the "sic em" command. The little girl (who either has communication-non-speaking-English problems or some sort of mental retardation) even opened our front door once! She took one look at Vince on the couch and closed it again, but come on! I'd understand if it were just the kids, but the mom just stands there and doesn't do anything! Anyway, now I hate kids. Babies would seem so much more appealing if they didn't turn into kids.
6. We have a new car! It has air conditioning, hallelujah! That's the important part. The other info is it's a 2001 Acura MDX dark green, tan interior, all the amenities, and a great deal! I love it, any name suggestions are welcome. Anyway, the reason we got something bigger is so we could have a dog and babies without them mingling and one eating the other. So it's perfect.
5. I updated my blog. Ta da!
